LAST GAME is a movie of the Kuroko no Basket series. It was inspired by the short sequel manga EXTRA GAME from which the plot was be based on. However, the movie is an original story as stated by the original creator, Tadatoshi Fujimaki. LAST GAME is about an American street basketball team called Jabberwock comes to Japan and plays a friendly match with a Japanese team, but after the Japanese team suffers a crushing defeat, the team members of Jabberwock start mocking Japanese basketball. Their comments enrage Riko’s father, Coach Kagetora, and so he gathers a team made up of the five members of the Kiseki no Sedai and Taiga Kagami, called Vorpal Swords, to have a revenge match against Jabberwock.
This movie version is breaking box office revenue of 1 billion yen at the ninth week of public release. All screening in 7 region areas (Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, Shikoku, Kyuushu and Okinawa) with total 125 cinemas spread around Japan, hit a big success. TETSUYA KUROKO:
I got so many things from “Kuroko no Basket” itself and I received a lot of power from all my fans. Thanks to that, I was able to join all work related to “Kuroko no Basket” and even to the movie version in this way. Now I also play in stage play version of Kuroko. Somehow I realize that “passion” and “heat” inside this title have been connected with the anime for 5 years which finally could be carried over to the stage play. I met a work called “Kuroko no Basket” and I’ve worked all this way, I think it was really good and full of gratitude indeed. I appreciate it a lot and everyone, thank you very much for your support!
TAIGA KAGAMI:
Today I can talk about “Kuroko no Basket” again, in front of you all here again and I feel so happy, again (LOL) I believe fans who are coming today, keep supporting us for five year because they know that we, all staff and cast, have fight together to make this work up to this level now. I’m not sure whether today is the last day, and this movie is the true “last game” for us, of course I feel sad but in the other hand I also excited for waiting the next development and what will come from now. I’m pretty sure that I can meet Kuroko again in the future, and I’d like to say good bye to you all today, but don’t be sad! Thank you very much and see you again soon someday!
SEIJUUROU AKASHI:
It was a good memory to have stage greeting in Kyoto and Nagoya previously, and finally I came here after one staff asked me to come privately. Obviously there’s a lot of great memory from Kuroko no Basket and I can say it keeps increasing lately. Frankly speaking, there’s not so many occasion beside recording, where all of us (staff and cast) could meet up and talk to each other. Further, Akashi didn’t appear that much on TV anime first season, so I’d like to say thanks to Kuroko and Kagami who brought Kuroko no Basket until this level. But actually for me, this is one of a great title anyway and I’m so happy I can voiced Akashi a lot in this movie. I can’t express anything else beside thank you so much for supporting us all this time. Please keep enjoying Kuroko no Basket from now on!
Last but not least, was give away corner. Kuroko, Kagami, and Akashi were drawing one lucky seat number each for giving a special price! One signed Kuroko’s poster, one signed Kagami’s poster, and one sign Akashi’s poster. Akashi gave the final message to audience “I remember all the winners’ face, don’t try to resell it or I’ll kill you all” (LOL). Unfortunately Kojacon Team didn’t get the prize! This greetings event is closed by photo session with all audience and all cast left the stage. Following last part is movie screening of Kuroko no Basket : LAST GAME together.
