Although the latest drama from Kimura Takuya [SMAP], ANDO LLOYD is considered a flop in his drama history (average rating 12.8%), it has been decided that he will again star Fuji TV’s top rated drama, “HERO“. In his prime time, Kimura Takuya starred in “HERO” in 2001, and this drama achieved the highest rating record in 25 years TV history with average rating over the entire series 34.3%.
The popularity of the 2001 series spawned a two hour special in 2006. In the special, 5 years has passed since the events of the TV series. Kuryu has been transferred from Ishigaki to Sapporo and finally ends up assigned to a small coastal village in rural Yamaguchi Prefecture. There, he inspires a new group of small town prosecutors and paralegals while investigating a murder possibly implicating a favorite local politician.
With this achievement, Fuji TV wants to make the continuation of the drama into Fuji TV’s getsu 9 drama to air this July.
The drama tells the story of Kuryu Kohei (Kimura Takuya), a former delinquent turned prosecutor known for his unconventional methods in finding-out the truth. The new “HERO” will be set 7 years after the movie (2007) where Kuryu will make his return to Tokyo District Prosecutor Office. Kitagawa Keiko will play the new administrative clerk who will get paired with Kuryu.
“It’s been a while, I’ve come back to the Josai branch after a long time. Thank you for your consideration,” said Kimura.
Along with Kimura Takuya and Keiko Kitagawa, other line ups are : Kadono Takuzo, Kohinata Fumiyo, Yashima Norito, Sugimoto Tetta, and Hamada Gaku.
